About an hour before the match, the match officials reached the ground with an umbrella for inspection. Sharing the photo of The Ages Bowl Stadium in Southampton on Twitter, BCCI wrote, 'Good morning from Southampton. We are about an hour before the scheduled start of the match, but it is still drizzling. The match officials are on the field.

India have declared their playing XI a day before the match. India is going into this match with three fast bowlers and two spinners. Mohammad Siraj and Umesh Yadav have not found a place in the playing XI.
