LIC Sakhi Scheme: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has launched the Bima Sakhi scheme to empower women and increase their employment opportunities. At an event held in Panipat, Haryana, PM Modi inaugurated this scheme launched by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC). This move is not only a major effort towards making women self-reliant, but will also strengthen the economy of rural India.

Women will get a new source of employment

Under the Bima Sakhi scheme, women will be trained as LIC agents. The scheme aims to provide opportunities to women in the age group of 18-70 years who have completed at least class 10. The scheme aims to employ one lakh women across India, including 8,000 women from Haryana.

This initiative specifically focuses on women who are living in rural and semi-urban areas, and who need employment opportunities.

Financial support will be provided

Under the Bima Sakhi scheme, financial assistance will also be given to the trained women.

First year: ₹7,000 per month

Second year: ₹6,000 per month

Third year: ₹5,000 per month

Along with this, they will be given special training in financial literacy, insurance awareness and communication with customers. With this financial support and training, women will not only get a new job, but they will also become financially independent.

Started in Haryana, plan to expand across the country

In the first phase of the scheme, 35,000 women will be trained. After this, there is a plan to include 50,000 more women. Initially it is being implemented in Haryana, but soon it will be available in other parts of the country as well.
