After this, Sunil Narine and Ajinkya Rahane took charge of the innings and added more than 50 runs for the second wicket. Narine scored 30 runs in 13 balls, but Digvesh Rathi broke this partnership by dismissing him.

Captain Rahane still held one end and played a brilliant innings of 61 runs with the help of eight fours and two sixes in 35 balls. He maintained the run rate in the middle overs, but he could not get consistent support from the other end.

Rinku Singh breathed life into the match in the last overs. He scored an unbeaten 38 runs off just 15 balls with six fours and two sixes. But the team fell four runs short of the target.
