Mumbai: The Maharashtra government on Thursday evening clarified that the coronavirus restrictions have not been lifted anywhere in the state. Earlier, state minister Vijay Wadettiwar had announced the easing of restrictions. The CM Office issued a statement in this regard saying that relaxation in restrictions in various areas is being considered, but no final decision has been taken so far. Explaining his announcement, Disaster Management Minister Vijay Wadettiwar later said that the phased lifting of restrictions has been approved, but no final decision has been taken so far.

Earlier, the minister had told reporters that restrictions would now be relaxed in 18 of the state's 36 districts where the infection rate is five per cent or less and 75 per cent of the oxygen beds in hospitals are vacant. The minister had made this announcement by organizing a press conference after the meeting of the State Disaster Management Authority. But the CMO said in the statement that the Kovid-19 epidemic has not been completely controlled so far, so the government has not taken any decision to relax the restrictions.

The CMO said that the Disaster Management Department has fixed five levels of severity of the epidemic based on the rate of infection and availability of oxygenated beds. The decision to relax restrictions will be taken at a serious level, which will be announced soon. Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray and Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar were also present in the meeting of the Disaster Management Department. Congress leader Vadettiwar said that the lockdown restrictions are not being relaxed at present, the Chief Minister will take the final decision regarding this.
