Trinamool Congress: State Forest Minister and TMC Congress leader Jyotipriya Mallik was arrested by ED on Thursday night in connection with the ration distribution scam in West Bengal. The arrest of Jyotipriya Mallik before the Lok Sabha elections is considered very important in the politics of Bengal, because he is considered very close and trusted by the state CM Mamata Banerjee. Before being made the Forest Minister, he was the Food Minister of the state and during his tenure as the Food Minister, he was accused of scam in ration distribution. It is not that this is the arrest of any first minister or MLA or TMC leader in the state on scam charges. Before this, many ministers, MLAs and TMC leaders have been arrested under various charges.

Since coming to power in the state, Trinamool Congress leaders have been facing many charges including chit fund scam, cow smuggling, teacher recruitment scam, coal scam, municipal recruitment scam, fire brigade recruitment scam and many leaders and officials have been arrested in these cases. Is. Recently, TMC MP Mahua Moitra has also been accused of taking cash and gifts in exchange for questions in the Lok Sabha. BJP MP Nishikant Dubey has demanded the Lok Sabha Speaker to reject his membership in this regard. The Ethics Committee of the Lok Sabha is investigating the entire matter and Mahua Moitra has been summoned for questioning on October 31.

In the coal scam, ED and CBI have already interrogated many people including Mamata Banerjee's nephew and MP Abhishek Banerjee, Abhishek Banerjee's wife Ruchira Banerjee, Ruchira Banerjee's sister. Abhishek Banerjee's name has also come up in the teacher recruitment scam. Accusations have been made against him. Mamata Banerjee has been continuously terming the action of ED and CBI as politically motivated, but this allegation has been rejected by the central agencies and BJP.

For the last several days, ED was conducting raids in the municipality regarding appointment and ration distribution scam. Before this, raids were conducted at the houses of the Food Minister and chairmen of several municipalities. Now Forest Minister Jyotipriya Mallik has been arrested on Thursday night. Today he will be produced in the court and ED will apply for his remand, but the list of arrests of TMC leaders on corruption charges is getting longer. Jyotipriya Mallik, Forest Minister

27 October 2023. ED has arrested Jyotipriya Mallik in the ration distribution case. ED raided the house throughout the night. Late at night he was taken to the CGO Complex in Salt Lake and interrogated. After investigating the case, ED arrested State Forest Minister Jyotipriya Mallik. In 2020, the first allegation of corruption in ration distribution was made. Three cases were registered in Nadia district between 2020 and 2022. On the basis of that, ED had started investigation.

Partha Chatterjee, former education minister

On July 23, 2022, former state education minister Partha Chatterjee was arrested. Partha Chatterjee was arrested by the Enforcement Directorate i.e. ED in the recruitment corruption case. ED had raided the residence of Partha Chatterjee and then raided the house of his close aide Arpita Mukherjee. About Rs 50 crore in cash was found from Arpita Mukherjee's residence. He is accused of corruption in the appointment of teachers. After his arrest, many former top officials of the education department were also arrested. At present all are in jail custody.

Anuvrat Mandal, Birbhum TMC District President

On August 11, 2022, Anubrata Mandal was arrested in the case of cow smuggling. CBI had arrested Birbhum's strongman Anubrata Banerjee from his house in Bolpur. After the arrest of Anuvrat Mandal, his daughter Sukanya Mandal was also arrested. They are accused of being involved in cow smuggling and coal smuggling. At present, Anuvrat Mandal, his daughter Sukanya Mandal and his close relatives are in Tihar Jail, Delhi.

Manik Bhattacharya, TMC MLA

Trinamool MLA Manik Bhattacharya was arrested on 11 October 2022. This MLA from Palashipara, Nadia was arrested in a case of corruption in the education sector. The allegation is that ineligible people got jobs by submitting fake answer sheets in TET and the allegation was that Manik Bhattacharya deliberately got them jobs. Manik was the former chairman of the Primary Education Board and was considered very close to Partha Chatterjee. This was the second arrest of Manik Bhattacharya in the recruitment case. Currently in jail.

Jibankrishna Saha, TMC MLA

17 April 2023. Murshidabad MLA Jibankrishna Saha has been arrested by CBI. Jibankrishna was arrested in the teacher recruitment scam case. This Trinamool MLA was arrested after 65 hours of continuous search. He was accused of offering a teacher's job in exchange for cash. It is alleged that he was in collusion with the officials of the education department and had given jobs to ineligible people in exchange for cash. Currently in jail custody.

Kuntal Ghosh, former TMC youth leader

21 January 2023. Kuntal Ghosh was arrested by ED in the teacher recruitment corruption case. Kuntal's name came up after questioning Tapas Mandal, leader of the private college organization. Kuntal was a youth leader of Trinamool Congress from Hooghly. The allegation is that he worked for former Education Minister Partha Chatterjee and unethically helped unqualified youth to get teacher jobs at the local level. Currently in jail custody.

Shantanu Banerjee, former TMC youth leader

On March 11, 2023, Shantanu Banerjee, close to Kuntal Ghosh, was arrested by the ED. He was the health officer of Shantanu Hooghly District Council. Like Kuntal, the youth leader of Trinamool Congress from Hooghly was arrested by the ED after 7 hours of questioning. The investigators had recovered the admit card and various documents from his house in Balagarh. At present he is also in jail custody.
