Kochi: A minor girl who was allegedly raped and impregnated by a 20-year-old man gave birth to a premature baby in a toilet of a private hospital in Kochi. The petrified minor also reportedly flushed the baby and returned to the scan room for further procedures.

According to a report, a girl went to a private hospital for a check-up with her mother on Wednesday and while waiting for the doctor the girl suffered severe pain. She then went to the restroom but the baby was born prematurely. Hence, the minor instead of disclosing the incident, she flushed the toilet and went back to the scanning room.

However, another patient noticed the foetus in the toilet and informed the police. Following this, the police rushed to the hospital for a probe and found that the minor girl flushed the foetus.

On questioning, the girl said that she was impregnated by a man and she was pregnant. She also confessed that she gave birth to a baby in the toilet and flushed it. Based on a complaint from her mother, police registered a case against a Wayanad-based man. The police said that the girl did not reveal about the affair or her pregnancy that reached the second trimester.

Earlier in 2018, a corpse of a 2 days old baby was found flushed down in a toilet sink in Kerala by plumbers who were pressed into service. When the plumbers were clearing the clog, they were shocked to find the head of a baby pop out of the toilet in Nattukal. Following this, the police launched a probe to find the mother.
