Duleep Trophy / Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik out, replacement announced; Jadeja also released

Duleep Trophy 2024 is starting from September 5, in which four teams will participate. BCCI had announced the squad, but Mohammed Shami, Umran Malik due to injury and Ravindra Jadeja have been released. Navdeep Saini and Gaurav Yadav have got a chance.

Duleep Trophy: Duleep Trophy 2024 is starting from 5 September, in which four teams will participate this time. The BCCI had already announced the squads of all the teams, but now some important changes have happened even before the tournament starts. Fast bowlers Mohammed Shami and Umran Malik have been ruled out of the tournament due to injury, while Ravindra Jadeja has been released.

Navdeep Saini got a chance

Both Mohammed Siraj and Umran Malik are facing health problems and are not expected to be fit in time for the Duleep Trophy matches. Siraj was named in the India-B team and Umran in the India-C team. Now Navdeep Saini has got a chance in place of Siraj and Gaurav Yadav in place of Umran. This change can increase the concern of Team India, especially about Siraj's fitness for the upcoming series against Bangladesh. Jadeja's replacement has not been announced yet.

Navdeep Saini's return

Navdeep Saini played his last match for the Indian team in 2021. Since then he has been out of the team. Now by performing well in the Duleep Trophy, he is hoping to return to the series against Bangladesh. He has taken 4 wickets in 2 Test matches, 6 wickets in 8 ODIs and 13 wickets in 11 T20 International matches for the Indian team.
