Uttarakhand | Rain is coming from the sky in Uttarakhand as a disaster. Several roads including the National Highway have been closed due to landslides following heavy rains. Traffic is also affected on the Chardham Yatra Route Gangotri Highway. Due to the closure of roads, commuters are stuck at various places. The Tawaghat-Lipulekh National Highway in Pithoragarh has been closed due to hilly terrain. Suddenly a hill collapsed near the Tampa temple between Lakhanpur and Najang.

Due to this, the movement in this road connecting the China border came to a standstill. Due to the closure of the road, Adi Kailas passengers traveling in private are also stuck in Bundi. KMVN Dharchula manager Dhan Singh Bisht said that about 50 passengers are stranded. Apart from this, the problems of the local villagers have also increased once again due to the disruption of the movement. In fact, after 15 days this road was open, this brought relief to the people, but even once the road was closed, making it difficult for the villagers to move.

Gangotri Dham Yatra stopped for a day

The district administration has banned the Gangotri Yatra till Sunday evening due to the frequent landslides near Helgugad and the Yellow Alert of heavy rain. The Gangotri Yatra was stalled for the whole day on Saturday also due to the closure of the road. SP Arpan Yaduvanshi told reporters on Saturday morning that Gangotri Highway is closed due to continuous landslides near Helgugad. A yellow alert has been issued by the Meteorological Department for the next few days. In view of this, it was decided to stop the yatra on Saturday and Sunday.

He said that the movement on Gangotri Highway was closed for the whole day on Saturday. SDM Bhatwadi Chatar Singh Chauhan said that after taking feedback from the police and BRO, the decision has been taken regarding the yatra. Meanwhile, thousands of travelers have stayed in hotels etc. waiting to visit Gangotri Dham at district headquarters Uttarkashi and nearby places.
