Coronavirus / Nithyananda bans Indian travellers to his 'country' Kailasa; cites COVID-19 surge

Rape-accused self-styled godman Nithyananda, who fled India in 2019, has banned the entry of Indian travellers to Kailasa, a country which he has claimed to have founded. An order stated that due to the second and third waves of coronavirus, "Embassies of Kailasa" in Brazil, European Union, Malaysia and India were sealed and their travellers are banned until further notice.

New Delhi: In view of the COVID-19 resurge in India, Nithyananda's country Kailasa banned the entry of Indians. The absconding godman who founded his own country also shut its borders to travellers from Brazil, the European Union and Malaysia. 

The order released by the country states that due to the second and third waves of coronavirus, all embassies of Kailasa from these nations were sealed. The borders will remain shut to these travellers until further notice. 

As per several reports, Kailasa is located off the coast of Ecuador and was founded by the self-styled godman after he fled from India, The Week reported. 

'At least 1 lakh people would settle in Kailasa in the next 5 years'

Last year, the sexual assault accused godman announced a three-day visa for a visit to Kailasa. In a video released by the godman, he could be heard saying that according to him, "at least 1 lakh people would settle in Kailasa in the next 5 years".

In one of his Facebook videos, Nithyananda was heard saying that as many as 29 people had applied to live in Kailasa. To help the visitors, the country launched a chartered flight service named 'Garuda'. The country announced that last year that the stay was only for visitors from Australia. 

The official website of the country announced that it was founded by a group of "dispossessed people who lost the right to practice Hinduism authentically in their own countries". 

n August 2019, the 'Reserve Bank of Kailasa' was set up in the country and a video was released to announce the same. In the video, Nithyananda said that a  300-page document on the economic policy, exchange of currency was prepared for the country.
