His previous salary was Rs 5.25 crore, and this time he has got a big increase. In retention, Klaasen surpassed big names like Virat Kohli and Nicholas Pooran, who have been retained by Royal Challengers Bangalore and Lucknow Super Giants respectively for Rs 21 crore.

Virat Kohli's increased price

RCB has retained Virat Kohli for Rs 21 crore, making him India's most expensive player this season. Kohli's salary was Rs 15 crore last season, making it a significant hike. Kohli's influence and popularity in the IPL justifies this, and it is a big move on RCB's part.

Expense on Nicholas Pooran and other star players

Lucknow Super Giants have also retained Nicholas Pooran for Rs 21 crore. A total of three players have been retained in this auction for an amount of more than 20 crore. Among other star players, Rajasthan Royals have retained Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal for Rs 18 crore. Chennai Super Kings have also retained Ravindra Jadeja and Rituraj Gaikwad for Rs 18 crore each. Sunrisers Hyderabad have also retained Pat Cummins for Rs 18 crore.
