PUNJAB | Actor Sonu Sood's sister Malvika has joined the Congress for the Punjab Assembly elections. Meanwhile, the Election Commission has served notice to him for violating the model code of conduct. Sub-Divisional Magistrate and Returning Officer (RO) Satwant Singh has issued notices to Malvika, Congress MLA Dr. Harjot Kamal and District BJP President Vinay Sharma for violation of model code of conduct and prohibitory orders issued in view of Kovid.

On Monday, the RO has sought an answer from Malvika Sood on the public meeting organized at his brother Sonu Sood's residence. CM Charanjit Singh Channi and PCC chief Navjot Singh Sidhu had come to his residence to include Sood in the party. Several other leaders and hundreds of local party workers and media persons were also present on the occasion.

Satwant Singh said that it had come to his notice through media reports that the meeting was held in contravention of the orders of the Election Commission. A similar notice has also been issued to local MLA Dr Harjot Kamal, who staged a sit-in outside his residence on Monday. The march stopped only after a warning from the police. The SDM said that he had also issued a notice to the BJP for organizing a public program at Shaheedi Park.
