The former President is undergoing treatment in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) for the last six years. Following the news of Musharraf's ill health, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) and the military leadership had said that the former president should be brought to the country if he wanted to return.

I have no personal enmity with Musharraf: Nawaz Sharif

PML-N supremo Nawaz Sharif had last week asked the coalition government to facilitate Musharraf if he wanted to return to Pakistan. He said he had no personal enmity or feud with the former dictator. The three-time prime minister said on Twitter, "I have no personal enmity or feud with Pervez Musharraf. I don't want anyone else to go through the trauma I suffered for my loved ones."

Former army chief should return to Pakistan: ISPR

Director-General Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) Major General Babar Iftikhar also said that the military leadership is of the view that the former army chief should return to Pakistan. DG ISPR said during an interview given to a private television channel, 'In such a situation, the stand of the institution and leadership is that Pervez Musharraf should return. Earlier Musharraf had expressed his desire to spend "the rest of his life" in his home country.
