Paris. Before leaving for home, Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with the newly elected President of France, Emmanuel Macron, at the Elysee Palace. The Elysee Palace, the official residence of the President of France, is located in Paris. Elaborating on the discussions held between PM Modi and Macron, Foreign Secretary Vinay Kwatra said that the two leaders had extensive discussions on all major areas of bilateral relations including defence, space, civil nuclear cooperation and people-to-people ties. Kwatra also said that India and France see each other as key partners in the Indo-Pacific region.
According to an ANI report, the Foreign Secretary also informed that this is PM Modi's first visit to France since August 2019. "The two leaders have been in regular touch through phone calls and letters," Kwatra said. They also met on the sidelines of the G20 summit last year. India and France are strong strategic partners. Both the leaders are also good friends.' Kwatra also said that President Macron has got a fresh mandate, which will further strengthen the existing strength and strategic partnership of the two countries. At the same time, the Prime Minister has tweeted and described his visit as worthwhile.Warm welcome by Indian diasporaOn this occasion, External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar met his French counterpart, French Foreign Minister Jean-Yves Le Drian.
