PM Modi In G7 Summit: Prime Minister Modi has reached Italy to participate in the G7 Summit. Officials of the Indian Embassy also reached Brindisi Airport to welcome him. Italy is currently chairing and hosting the G7 (Group of Seven Countries) summit.

The goal is to solve global challenges

At the G7 Summit, Modi will meet many world leaders including Italian Prime Minister Georgia Meloni, US President Joe Biden and Ukrainian President Zelensky. This is PM Modi's first foreign visit after becoming the Prime Minister of India for the third time. PM Modi wrote on his X handle that, our goal is to solve global challenges and promote international cooperation for a brighter future.

The summit will run till June 15

The issues of the war in Ukraine and the conflict in Gaza are expected to dominate the G7 summit to be held from June 13 to 15 at the luxurious resort of Borgo Egnazia in the Apulia region of Italy. Before leaving for the summit, PM Modi had said that he is happy that he is going to Italy on his first foreign tour. Modi said, "The discussion in the outreach session will focus on artificial intelligence (AI), energy, Africa and the Mediterranean region." He said, "This will be an opportunity to bring more synergy between the results of the G20 summit chaired by India and the upcoming G7 summit and to discuss important issues for the Global South."

Increased cooperation between India and Italy

PM Modi will also hold a bilateral meeting with Italian Prime Minister Meloni on the sidelines of the G7 meeting. The Prime Minister said, "Last year, Prime Minister Meloni's two visits to India played an important role in giving momentum and depth to our bilateral agenda." He said, "We are committed to strengthening the India-Italy strategic partnership and increasing cooperation in the Indo-Pacific and Mediterranean regions." The Prime Minister is likely to hold several bilateral meetings apart from the summit.

  • 10:45-11:10: Bilateral talks with French President Emmanuel Macron.
  • 11:10-11:30: Talks with UK PM Rishi Sunak.
  • 13:30: Arrival at the G7 Summit venue Borgo Imagia.
  • 13:45: Welcome photo session with the Italian PM.
  • 14:00-17:30: G7 outreach session
  • 17:30-17:45: Family photo session.
  • 17:50-18:15: Bilateral talks with German Chancellor Olaf Scholz.
  • 18:20-18:40: Bilateral talks with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.
  • 18:40-19:30: Special meeting.
  • 19:30-19:55: Bilateral talks with Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida.
  • 20:30-21:30: Italian PM Meloni will host dinner with cultural programme.
