Waqf Amendment Bill: The second phase of the budget session of Parliament is going on, and during this time the politics of the country has heated up over the Waqf Amendment Bill. Opposition parties are attacking the government sharply over this bill. Meanwhile, today the All India Muslim Personal Law Board (AIMPLB) has announced a massive protest at Jantar Mantar.

Protest at Jantar Mantar

This protest organized by AIMPLB will start at 10 am. Representatives of many major opposition parties will also participate in this protest, including Congress, Trinamool Congress (TMC), Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD), Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM), Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), Samajwadi Party (SP), All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM), Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK), Akali Dal, Shiv Sena and Indian Union Muslim League (IUML). This protest is being done by terming this bill as a conspiracy against the Muslim community.

Second phase of budget session and Waqf Bill

The second phase of the budget session has started from March 10 and will continue till April 4. The proceedings of Parliament will begin at 11 am today, in which many reports including Railway Grant will be discussed. During this time, the debate on the Waqf Amendment Bill is likely to heat up.

The government wants to get this bill passed as soon as possible. Parliamentary Affairs Minister Kiren Rijiju had recently said that this bill will resolve many issues related to the Muslim community. The bill was introduced by the Joint Parliamentary Committee in the Lok Sabha despite opposition from the opposition, due to which the government is trying to get it passed on priority basis.

Opposition's opposition and AIMPLB's objections

Opposition parties allege that the Waqf Amendment Bill is a well-planned attempt to grab the properties of the Muslim community. The AIMPLB has called it a conspiracy to grab the properties of Awaqaf and has demanded complete rejection of this bill.

AIMPLB has appealed to the Muslims of India to join this demonstration in large numbers and raise their voice against this bill. Board spokesperson Ilyas said that they had hoped that the joint committee of Parliament would consider their suggestions, but neither their opinion was given importance nor the amendments of the opposition parties were included in the bill.

What will happen next?

While the government is committed to passing this bill, the opposition and Muslim organizations are putting all their strength to stop it. In such a situation, more political upheaval can be seen in the coming days on this issue in Parliament and on the streets.
