India-Russia Relation: Describing India as an old friend of Russia, the Russian envoy to the United Nations said that his country has special strategic partnership relations with New Delhi and he hopes that bilateral relations will improve even further after the possible visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Russia. Russia's Permanent Representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya made this comment during a press conference in response to a question about the possible visit of Prime Minister Modi to Moscow. The press conference was organized on the occasion of Russia assuming the presidency of the Security Council for the month of July.India-Russia relations will improve furtherVasily Nebenzya said, "We have special strategic partnership relations with India. India is an old friend of Russia. We cooperate in many areas, and I think there will be a solid dialogue on all these cooperation areas.'' When asked what he hopes to achieve from this visit, Nebenzya said, ''I hope that Russia-India relations will improve even more.''PM Modi's brief visit to RussiaNotably, India and Russia are considering the possibility of PM Modi's brief visit to Moscow next week, which will include extensive talks between Russian President Vladimir Putin and Modi. If this visit takes place, it will be PM Modi's first visit to Russia in a gap of about 5 years. His last visit to Russia was in 2019, when he attended an economic conference in the Far East city of Vladivostok.Preparations are underwayThere has been no confirmation from India about Modi's possible visit to Russia. However, a Kremlin official said last week that preparations were underway for the visit. Russian President's assistant Yuri Ushakov had said, I can confirm that we are preparing for the visit of the Prime Minister of India. We cannot announce the date right now, because the date is announced in the agreement of the two parties.Nebenzya reacts to Trump's statementRussia's permanent representative to the United Nations Vasily Nebenzya has also reacted to the statement of former US President Donald Trump in which he said that if he is re-elected as President, he can resolve the war between Russia and Ukraine in a day. On this, Nebenzya told reporters, "The crisis in Ukraine cannot be resolved in a day." He also blamed the Western countries supporting Ukraine for blocking the peace agreement to be held in April 2022.
