Jharkhand Politics / Shock to Congress, 5 new faces... What will Hemant Soren's new government be like?

The Hemant Soren government in Jharkhand is preparing to form a new team. The defeat of four ministers of the previous government and the entry of a new party in the coalition have changed the equations. There is a possibility of reduction in the Congress quota and giving more space to women and youth. Regional balance will also be a priority.

Jharkhand Politics: After the assembly elections in Jharkhand, Hemant Soren has started the process of forming a new government. This time many big changes can be seen in his government. This government will look changed as compared to the previous government, the reason for which is the inclusion of new faces in the cabinet and the entry of new parties in the alliance.

Cabinet reorganization: changing equations

There can be a total of 12 ministers in the Jharkhand Legislative Assembly, including the Chief Minister. In the previous government, Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) got 7, Congress got 4 and Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) got 1 ministerial post. But this time due to change in the number of seats and new equations, there is a possibility of change in the quota of the cabinet.

Possible change:

Last time there was a formula of one ministerial post for four MLAs. This time this ratio can be one ministerial post for five MLAs.

Congress has 16 MLAs, which may reduce the number of its ministers.

JMM has won 34 seats, which can include more ministers in its quota.

Among the four winning candidates of RJD, new faces are likely to get a place in the cabinet.

New faces and representation

Four prominent ministers of the Hemant Soren government (Mithilesh Thakur, Baidyanath Ram, Baby Devi and Banna Gupta) have lost the elections. Apart from this, RJD quota minister Satyanand Bhogta did not contest the elections. In such a situation, new representatives are expected to get a chance.

Priority to women and youth

There were only two women ministers in the previous government, but this time their participation may increase due to the election of eight women MLAs.

Young faces are also likely to get prominence, which will infuse new energy in the cabinet.

Regional and social balance

Maintaining regional balance and social representation will be important in the Hemant government.

Regional representation:

There is a plan to have three ministers from Kolhan, three from Santhal, one from Palamu, and four ministers from Southern and Northern Chotanagpur.

Social balance:

Last time, JMM had made three tribals, one Dalit, one upper caste and one OBC ministers.

Congress had given representation to one minority, one tribal, one upper caste and one OBC.

Demand for Deputy CM rejected

Congress' demand for the post of Deputy CM has been rejected by Hemant Soren. Instead, Congress may be given the post of Deputy Speaker. However, it will be interesting to see which party gets the important departments (like finance, health, agriculture, and rural development) this time.

New challenges and possibilities

The Hemant Soren government not only faces the challenge of balancing within the coalition, but also the pressure to set new priorities for the development of the state. Promoting women and youth, balancing regional equations and empowerment of tribal and deprived sections will be the priority for his government.

The expectations of change and new energy in the government this time can give a new direction to the political landscape of Jharkhand.
