IPL 2024 / Shreyas Iyer finally joins KKR team, welcomed in a very special way; watch video

IPL 2024: Kolkata Knight Riders team has won the IPL title twice. The team last won the IPL trophy under the captaincy of Gautam Gambhir. Last season, the team's regular captain Shreyas Iyer could not play due to injury. Then he underwent back operation and played for Team India in the ODI World Cup 2023. In Iyer's absence, Nitish Rana took over the responsibility of captaining KKR. But Iyer is completely fit for IPL 2024 and he has joined the KKR team.

KKR captain Shreyas Iyer has joined the team's practice camp ahead of IPL 2024. Due to back problems, Iyer's playing in the initial matches of the tournament seemed doubtful. KKR has released pictures of Iyer's arrival on social media. KKR team has shared a video on Instagram, the caption of which reads, Our Tiger's orders. Fans are seen welcoming Iyer.

Was out of test series against England

Shreyas Iyer played in the first two test matches against England but after that he started having back pain. He was not selected in the Indian team for the remaining three Test matches. Iyer could not play for Mumbai in the Ranji Trophy quarter-finals but was a part of the team in the semi-finals and final. He was troubled by back pain in the final against Vidarbha. For this reason he did not take the field on the last two days of the match.

KKR is scheduled to play its first match in IPL 2024 against Sunrisers Hyderabad on March 23. Iyer is known for his excellent batting. He has been playing in IPL since 2015. So far he has scored 2776 runs in 101 IPL matches, which includes 19 half-centuries. His highest score in IPL has been 96.
