Cricket South Africa (CSA) has invited bids to buy teams to form the country's new T20 league. Invitations have been sent to interested parties and franchises from all other leagues, including the IPL, have shown interest. The bidding deadline, which was initially July 11, has now been extended till Wednesday, July 13, at the request of the participants.

Expressions of Interest (EOI) letter from Indian Premier League (IPL) teams such as Chennai Super Kings (CSK), Delhi Capitals (DC), Mumbai Indians (MI), Rajasthan Royals (RR), and Mumbai Indians (MI) has bought. CSA has now received 29 EoIs, some of which have come from owners of Pakistan Super League (PSL) and IPL teams.

There is no official confirmation on the number of teams yet, but IPL teams believe there will be six franchises for the competition, two of which will be reserved for South African bidders, Cricbuzz reports. The South African board is planning to organize the tournament in January-February.

A CSA league document states that there is a huge difference between the best (IPL) and the second best T20 leagues. In such a situation, CSA has focused on creating the second best T20 league in the world. It has been said, “There is a clear distinction between the best (IPL) and second best leagues. So CSA should look at the opportunity to make it the second best T20 league in the world."
