The team had scored 63 runs without loss in the powerplay and had not lost any wicket. After Quinton de Kock was out, the batsmen scored at a slow pace in the middle overs. Miller took the score past 150. At one point the team looked to be going up to 200 runs.

Quinton de Kock, who came to open the innings, scored 65 runs in 38 balls. He scored runs at a strike rate of 171.05 with the help of 4 fours and 4 sixes. Miller played a useful innings of 43 runs.

In the run chase, the English team lost 4 wickets for 61 runs. From here, Liam Livingstone and Harry Brook brought the English team back into the match by making an aggressive partnership of 78 runs in 42 balls.
