India / Speaking against PM same as speaking against democracy: Suvendu

BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari on Friday said that speaking against Prime Minister Narendra Modi is equivalent to speaking against "democracy" and "Bharat Mata". "You'll have to take PM Modi's vaccine against COVID-19. He is the elected PM," Adhikari added. His remarks came after TMC criticised the PM over rising COVID-19 cases despite the nationwide vaccination drive.

NEW DELHI: Speaking against Prime Minister Narendra Modi means speaking against "democracy" and "Bharat Mata", BJP leader Suvendu Adhikari said taking a dig at West Bengal chief minister Mamata Banerjee.

"You will have to take Prime Minister Narendra Modi's vaccine against Covid. He is an elected Prime Minister. Speaking against him is like speaking against democracy. Speaking against him is speaking against Bharat Mata. Pakistan and Bangladesh do not have vaccine, so you will have to take Prime Minister Modi's vaccine," Adhikari told news agency ANI.

Earlier today, Mamata Banerjee hit out at Prime Minister Narendra Modi over several issues including Covid-19 vaccination during a public rally at Egra and Patashpur.

In an obvious reference to Suvendu Adhikari and Rajib Banerjee who had shifted allegiance to the BJP along with other leaders like Mukul Roy, the TMC supremo said "Gaddars, Mirjafars (traitors) have now become BJP candidates, to the dismay of old-timers of the saffron party."

Mamata also took a dig at the top leadership of BJP saying Bengal does not want 'Duryodhan' and 'Dushasan'.

"We do not want BJP. BJP ke biday dao (bid farewell to BJP). We do not want to see Modi's face. We do not want rioters and looters. We do not want Duryodhan, Dushasana and Mir Zafar," she said.
