Tata Group News: Tata Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) has recently secured an important defense contract with the Royal Armed Forces of Morocco, which involves the local manufacture of Wheeled Armored Platform (WhAP) combat vehicles. The deal was announced by the company on social media platform X. The company said that the contract is for the local manufacture of WhAP vehicle developed in collaboration with DRDO and Tata Motors in partnership with Morocco. This deal is not only a major achievement for Tata Advanced Systems but also a major recognition for Indian defense products globally, establishing them as an Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM).Supply will be done in a period of three yearsAccording to the report of news agency ANI, under this contract, WhAP vehicles will be supplied to the Royal Armed Forces of Morocco within three years. This is the largest international contract ever for the Indian defense sector, which involves the export of indigenously manufactured armored vehicles. Interestingly, prior to this contract, the Indian paramilitary forces had also ordered the WhAP vehicle, thereby increasing its domestic use as well.Features of WhAPThe WhAP vehicle is completely designed and developed in India. It is known as a state-of-the-art amphibious wheeled combat vehicle. Its construction focuses especially on modularity, scalability, and reconfigurability, allowing it to be adapted to different situations and roles. The WhAP vehicle proves particularly effective in difficult conditions, such as operating in muddy terrain or passing through deep water. This vehicle is also capable of withstanding challenges such as mine blasts, making it extremely useful for protecting soldiers in battlefields.Various versions of the WhAP have already been inducted into the Indian Army and paramilitary forces, including the Infantry Protected Mobility Vehicle (IPMV) and a version adapted for paramilitary forces. These vehicles are used to safely transport and support troops in war zones.Successful testing of WhAP in MoroccoPrior to this important contract, the WhAP vehicles were thoroughly tested in Morocco, in which the vehicle proved its robustness and combat capability. During the test, the vehicle performed excellently even in difficult conditions. Now that the contract has been finalized, the DRDO team and Tata Advanced Systems will work together to incorporate the necessary upgrades in the construction of the vehicle, to further improve its capabilities.Global impact of India's defense capabilityThis contract is not only a testament to India's growing defense production capacity, but it also reflects the growing demand for Indian defense products in the global market.
