IND vs AUS: India started the three-match ODI series against Australia with a very easy and strong victory. Although this ODI series is being played just before the World Cup, it is being seen only as a warm-up, but for the team management and especially for some players, this series has a lot more meaning. In such a situation, everyone has eyes and expectations on the performance of this series. Team India lived up to these expectations in Mohali. At least in terms of victory, but the performance of three players definitely became a cause for a different kind of tension.

In the first ODI played in Mohali, Team India went without its regular captain Rohit Sharma, star batsman Virat Kohli and some key players. These players have been rested for the first and second ODIs. In such a situation, it remained to be seen how the team would perform without these veterans. Besides, it was also to be seen whether the players who have been selected in the World Cup squad prove themselves right or not. The team looked strong on most fronts. Still, three players have become a cause of trouble for different reasons.

Shardul Thakur was beaten badly

First of all let's talk about Shardul Thakur. Shardul has already become famous due to his ability to take wickets with medium pace bowling and is the Indian bowler who has taken the most wickets in ODIs since the 2019 World Cup. He can also make useful contributions with the bat in the lower order. Due to all these qualities, Shardul is being continuously given a place in the playing eleven, even if Mohammed Shami had to sit out.

But his performance in the last few matches has not been as per expectations. Even in Mohali, he looked completely ineffective and proved to be the most expensive. He gave 78 runs in 10 overs and did not take any wicket. In such a situation, the question will be whether it would be right to include Shardul in place of a leading pacer?

How long will the sacrifice of the legendary player last?

If Shardul's performance was poor then Mohammed Shami has raised questions before Team India with his tremendous performance. Due to the depth in the team's batting, Shardul was continuously getting a chance in the playing eleven and in such a situation Shami had to sit out during the Asia Cup. Whenever Shami got a chance, he performed amazingly. In Mohali, Shami spent 51 runs in 10 overs and took maximum 5 wickets. Till now, Team India is giving chances only to Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammed Siraj, but after such performance of Shami, how right would it be to ignore them? May this mistake prove costly for Team India in the World Cup?

Fit in batting but…

Lastly, let's talk about KL Rahul who was the captain in this match. KL Rahul, who returned to the team after injury, is continuously scoring runs. Rahul batted brilliantly in the Asia Cup and also led the team to victory against Australia in Mohali with an unbeaten inning of 58 runs. Still, Rahul has given tension and the reason for this is his wicket-keeping. Team India is getting Rahul to do the keeping and during the Asia Cup, he looked better in this job but his problem was clearly visible in Mohali.

There has hardly been a worse performance in wicketkeeping than this in recent years. Not only did Rahul miss the chances of catch and run out, but he also made mistakes in catching easy balls. He could not even catch the balls after being kicked and during this he also got injured in his thumb. In such a situation, can the team trust him in the World Cup? This will be a big question.
