Task Force indicated that the number of cases in the third wave can be doubled with the active case in the second wave. Force believes that the number of activists can reach up to 8 lakh. It is also expected that 10% of the cases can be connected to children or young adults.

Task Force Members Dr. Shashank Joshi emphasizes the adherence to the Kovid Protocol and said that the state may have to face the situation like Britain where the third wave came within four weeks of the second wave. The Task Force also had the opinion that the lower middle class will be the most affected in this wave because they survived the virus in the first two waves or decreased the antibodies.

Emphasis on vaccination

According to the information, CM Thackeray said in the meeting that the country will get 42 million vaccine supplements and the state will benefit from it. Task Force has emphasized vaccination to reduce mortality. In the first wave of Kovid, the number of patients in Maharashtra was the highest 3,01,752 on September 13, 2020, while on April 22, it was 6,99,858 during the second wave of Covid-19. On September 9, the positivity rate was 23.53% in the state on September 9, which reached 24.96% on April 8 this year.


According to the Health Department of Maharashtra, the total number of infected in the state has reached 59,34,880, while the number of dead has reached 1,15,390. The Department said that the number of people who have been healthy from this epidemic in Maharashtra has increased by 56,79,746, whereas the number of patients in the state is 1,36,661.
