Delhi School: Delhi's prestigious schools, DPS RK Puram and GD Goenka School in Paschim Vihar, once again got into a panic after receiving bomb threat mails. After these mails, the school administration took immediate action and sent the students back home safely. This incident happened around 7 am, when most of the students had reached school. Along with informing the police and fire department, all necessary security measures were taken.

Concern over increasing cases of false bomb threats

This year, there has been a huge increase in false bomb threat mails and calls. In the month of May itself, more than 60 schools in Delhi received bomb threat mails. After these incidents, the police and the bomb squad had to come into action every time. However, no real threat has been found in any of these cases so far in these investigations.

The scope of false bomb threats is not limited to schools only. This year airlines and hospitals have also come under their grip. Due to false reports of bombs in the plane, many flights had to be canceled or postponed, causing huge financial losses to the airlines.

New strategy of cyber criminals

In such cases, criminals usually use VPN (Virtual Private Network) and foreign servers. Due to VPN, it becomes difficult to trace the exact location and identity of the person sending the mail. Apart from this, due to the use of foreign servers, Indian investigative agencies have to seek cooperation from the concerned countries. This process is not only complex but also time consuming.

Emphasis on security and caution

Although, till now such threats have proved to be false, but security agencies are not taking them lightly. Every mail or call is being taken seriously so that any kind of untoward incident can be avoided. The school administration has also taken vigilance by giving priority to the safety of children.

What is the solution to the problem?

Strengthening cyber security: New cyber security measures should be adopted to monitor the misuse of VPN and foreign servers.

International cooperation: Better coordination with the investigating agencies of different countries is necessary to speed up the investigation of foreign servers.

Strict laws: There should be provision for strict punishment against those who make false threats so that such crimes can be reduced.

Conclusion

False bomb threats are not only a challenge for the security agencies but also cause mental stress for children and their parents. In such a situation, there is a need to take concrete steps to deal with this problem through technology and law. Coordination between security agencies and school administration will play an important role in ensuring the safety of children.
