The Central Board of Direct Taxes (CBDT), in a notification dated March 29, said that the last date for linking PAN with biometric Aadhaar is March 31, 2022. Late reporting will attract a late fee of Rs 500. This fine will be for the next three months i.e. till June 30, 2022. Thereafter, the taxpayers will have to pay a fine of Rs 1,000. However, your PAN card will be activated again after the payment of the fine. PAN card can be used to open a bank account, purchase immovable property or as a proof of identity.

PAN can be linked with Aadhaar without internet

Links can be done without internet like this

  • Go to the SMS of your mobile and type 'UIDPAN'.
  • After this, enter the 12-digit Aadhaar number and enter the 10-digit PAN card by giving space.
  • Then send it to 567678 or 56161. Your Aadhaar and PAN will be linked.
You can also take this facility

  • Go to the Income Tax Department website and click on 'Link Aadhaar'.
  • Now Enter Aadhar Card Number, Pan Card Number, Your Name and Registered Mobile Number.
  • Now after entering the captcha code, click on 'Link Aadhaar'.
  •  Once this process is completed, your Aadhaar and PAN will be linked.
Check status like this

  • Go to the Income Tax Department website and click on 'Link Aadhaar'.
  • Click on the 'Click Button' to view the status.
  • Fill Aadhar and PAN card details here.
  • If your PAN is linked with Aadhar card then it will be visible here.
