Uttar Pradesh News: The last date for government officials and employees in Uttar Pradesh to give property details is today, 30 September 2024. About 52,000 employees have to update their property details on the portal by 3 pm today. Employees who will not give details within this time limit, their salary will be held. This step has been taken by the state government with the aim of ensuring transparency and accountability.

Deadline and previous experience

Earlier, the deadline for giving property details was 31 August 2024. The salary of the employees who did not give details of their property till that time was stopped, however, after the appeal of employee organizations and department heads, they were once again released salary. The reasoning of government officials behind this decision was that it is necessary to update the property details on time so that corruption can be controlled.

Chief Secretary's order

Uttar Pradesh Chief Secretary Manoj Singh issued an order in July directing all officers and employees to update their property details on the portal by August 31. He had warned that the salaries of officers or employees who do not follow this order will be stopped. Due to non-compliance of this order, the salary of many employees was not released on September 1, which created a stir in the state.

Police and Revenue Department Employees

The biggest impact of this crisis was on the officers and employees posted in the police and revenue department. The officers said that they were busy in disaster relief work and election duty, due to which they could not get time. In view of this situation, the Chief Secretary fixed the last date as September 30 and made it clear that no concession would be given now.

Employees not giving details

According to the Treasury Department, more than 7,000 officers of A class and B class have not yet given details of their assets. The number of C class and D class employees is also almost the same. This situation is a matter of concern for the state government as it may not only lead to disruption in government work but may also raise questions on the issue of accountability.

Conclusion

This initiative of the Uttar Pradesh government is to promote accountability and transparency among government employees. However, now only a few hours are left, and the employees who have not given the property details till now have a salary crisis looming. The government's clear message is that no leniency will be given for not following the rules, and this has created a new awareness among the employees of the state. Now it will be interesting to see whether all the employees will be able to update their details within the deadline.
