Shardiya Navratri: The ninth day of Navratri is considered dedicated to Maa Siddhidatri. This day is also famous as Ram Navami and Mahanavami. The Siddhidatri form of Maa Durga is a symbol of power and siddhi, by worshipping which properly, devotees get salvation and all kinds of siddhis. On this day, the worship of girls and food has special significance. Devotees worship nine girls and a boy along with the worship of Maa Siddhidatri and get their blessings. According to religious belief, by doing this, the grace of Maa Durga always remains on the devotees.

Maa Siddhidatri Puja Date

According to the Vedic Panchang, this year Navami Tithi will start from 12:06 pm on Friday, October 11 and it will last till 10:58 pm on Saturday, October 12. According to Uday Tithi, this time Navami Tithi will be celebrated on October 11. On this day devotees do special worship of Maa Siddhidatri.

Auspicious time for Kanya Pujan

According to the Hindu calendar, both Ashtami and Navami are auspicious times for Kanya Pujan. On Ashtami, the auspicious time for Kanya Pujan will be from 7:44 am to 10:37 am. On the other hand, two Muhurtas are considered important on Navami Tithi—the first is from 2:00 pm to 2:45 pm and the second is from 11:45 am to 12:30 pm. Performing Kanya Pujan in these Muhurtas is considered extremely auspicious.

Maa Siddhidatri Puja Vidhi

To worship Maa Siddhidatri on Navami, devotees should wear clean clothes after taking a bath in the morning. First of all, worship Maa Siddhidatri by worshipping the Kalash and meditating on the deities. Offer Moli, Roli, Kumkum, flowers and chunari to the mother and worship her with full devotion. After this, offer puri, kheer, gram, halwa and coconut to the mother and chant her mantras. Finally, feed nine girls and a boy.

Favorite offering and color of Maa Siddhidatri

Maa Siddhidatri is especially fond of seasonal fruits, gram, puri, halwa, kheer and coconut. Offering these things to the mother on the day of Navami makes her very happy. Maa Siddhidatri likes purple and white color very much. Offering white or purple colored clothes on this day is auspicious. Also, it is considered beneficial for the devotees to wear clothes of these colors, because this color is a symbol of spirituality and peace.

Method of Kanya Pujan

Kanya Pujan has special significance on the day of Mahanavami. On this day, wash the feet of the girls and feed them respectfully. Apply a tilak of sandalwood and kumkum on their forehead, tie Kalawa and make them wear Chunari and bangles. After feeding the girls, give them Dakshina and gifts. Finally, touch her feet and seek her blessings and meditate on Maa Siddhidatri and pray for forgiveness from her.

Importance of worshipping Maa Siddhidatri

By worshipping Maa Siddhidatri on the ninth day of Navratri, devotees get fame, wealth, strength and salvation. According to mythology, Lord Shiva attained various siddhis by the grace of Maa Siddhidatri, due to which his body became half goddess and half Shiva. For this reason, Lord Shiva is also called Ardhanarishwar.

By worshipping Maa Siddhidatri, not only spiritual siddhis are attained, but all the obstacles in life are also removed. Devotees worship the mother with full devotion and reverence on this day so that prosperity and peace remain in their lives.
