Trump Tariff War: The reciprocal tariff imposed by US President Donald Trump on 60 countries on April 2, 2025 has brought a storm in the global economy. Since this decision, there has been a lot of turmoil in markets around the world. The biggest confrontation has arisen between the US and China, where in response to the 34% tariff imposed by Trump, China also imposed the same tariff on all US products.

Ultimatum to China: If the tariff is not removed, then 50% additional duty will be imposed

Making the situation more serious, Trump has given a direct message to China. According to American news channel Sky News, Trump has warned that if China does not remove its 34% tariff by tomorrow, then the US will impose an additional 50% tariff on China. Trump said this while posting on his social media platform Truth.

This ultimatum has indicated that the trade war between the US and China will deepen further, and there is no possibility of an agreement in the near future.

Vietnam showed leniency

The heat of this tariff war has now started reaching other trading partners of America as well. According to the Economic Times report, Vietnam's Communist Party chief To Lam has written a letter to America on April 5. In this letter, he has requested that America give his country a 45-day relief in tariffs, starting from April 9. In return, Vietnam has proposed tariff-free entry to American products.

Rumours rife, White House denies

On Monday, some media reports claimed that President Trump was considering a tariff policy hold for 90 days, which included giving temporary relief to all countries except China. The reports also said that this suggestion came from the President's senior economic advisor.

However, the White House completely rejected these reports. In a statement to CNBC, the administration clarified that the news of a 90-day tariff hold is completely fake and has no basis.
