Delhi / Up to 35 percent discount is being given on liquor here, crowd gathered outside the shops after hearing the wonderful offer

Long queues of liquor drinkers were seen at liquor shops in several areas of Delhi on Saturday as some shops offered discounts on multiple brands of liquor.

Liquor shops in many other areas including Jahangirpuri, Shahdara and Mayur Vihar of Delhi had given discounts of up to 35 percent on some brands, after which long lines formed outside liquor shops.

Why is there such a discount on alcohol?

An employee of a liquor shop in East Delhi said that liquor shops will have to exhaust their stock by the end of March as licenses will be renewed in the new financial year.

The demand for alcohol increased during the wedding season

A senior official of the Excise Department said that the queues were seen long due to various other reasons like wedding season and weekends. At the same time, experts in the liquor business said that due to the rate cut, people bought liquor in large quantities.
