PM Ranil Wickremesinghe Resigns: Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has resigned from the post. Wickremesinghe took over as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka on 12 May this year amid the economic crisis.

PM Ranil Wickremesinghe Resigns: Sri Lankan Prime Minister Ranil Wickremesinghe has resigned from the post. Wickremesinghe took over as the Prime Minister of Sri Lanka on 12 May this year amid the economic crisis. Before him, Mahindra Rajapaksa was the Prime Minister of the country. Wickremesinghe had to step down as Prime Minister within 59 days. Let us tell you that Sri Lanka is currently facing the biggest economic crisis since its independence (1948). It has a total foreign debt of US$51 billion. The island country currently needs US$4 billion a year.

Due to the economic crisis, the common people of Sri Lanka have to struggle for all the basic needs including inflation, fuel, health. Before Ranil Wickremesinghe, Mahindra Rajapaksa was the Prime Minister of the country. He had to leave his chair after heavy protests in different parts of the country. His ancestral house was also set ablaze by the angry mob. Not only this, many ministers of his government were also set on fire.
