Shami to Shoulder the Bowling Responsibility in Bumrah's Absence
India will be without the services of fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah in this tournament, who is regarded as a crucial part of the Indian bowling attack. In his absence, the bowling responsibility will primarily rest on the shoulders of Mohammed Shami, who has recently made a comeback to international cricket.
After a long break of 14 months, Shami returned to action in the T20I series against England. However, his bowling has not yet displayed the sharpness he is known for. Nevertheless, his experience could help put the team in a strong position in the first match against Bangladesh.
Shami Has a Chance to Make History
Mohammed Shami has a golden opportunity to register a major record in this match against Bangladesh. If he manages to take four wickets, he will become the third-highest wicket-taker for India in ODIs against Bangladesh.
Currently, Sachin Tendulkar, Jasprit Bumrah, and Zaheer Khan share the third spot with 12 wickets each. Ajit Agarkar and Ravindra Jadeja hold the first and second positions with 16 and 14 wickets, respectively.
