Wrestlers Protest: Wrestlers protesting against the President of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) and BJP MP Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh have told the government that now the command of the Wrestling Federation should be given in the hands of a woman. Wrestlers have demanded this by meeting Union Sports Minister Anurag Thakur. While talking to the Union Minister, the wrestlers have placed 5 demands. Let us tell you that for the last several days, wrestlers have been demanding the arrest of Brij Bhushan on the charges of sexual exploitation of a minor.

  • Wrestlers Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik met the Union Minister at his house on Wednesday. This meeting has been done after Anurag Thakur's invitation on Twitter late on Tuesday night.
  • This is the second meeting between the government and the wrestlers in the last 5 days. The wrestlers also met Home Minister Amit Shah on Saturday. During this, he demanded strict action against Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, who is accused of sexual exploitation.
  • Wrestlers have placed 5 demands in front of the Union Minister, including the demand for free and fair Wrestling Federation elections. During this, the wrestlers have expressed their desire that now a female wrestler should take charge in the Wrestling Federation. • Vinesh Phogat has been an important member of these protests but she is currently missing from meetings with the government as she is in her village Balali where she has to participate in a pre-scheduled panchayat.
  • Late on Tuesday, Anurag Thakur had invited the wrestlers for a meeting on his Twitter handle. Anurag wrote in a tweet that the government is ready to meet him on the issues of wrestlers. In this tweet, he invited the wrestlers. This initiative of his is to pacify the continuous demonstrations of the wrestlers.
  • Let us tell you that the wrestlers started this demonstration against Wrestling Federation President Brij Bhushan Singh in January. During this, the wrestlers had made allegations against him that he had sexually abused a minor player. Along with the allegations, a demand for his arrest was also made. In this case, the wrestlers again started a sit-in on April 23 at Delhi's Jantar Mantar.
  • The wrestlers were forcibly removed from the protest site on 28 May. After this, the wrestlers turned towards the new Parliament building, when the police took them into custody.
  • While on the one hand the government is ready to accept most of the things of the wrestlers, on the other hand the arrest of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh remains an important issue between the two.
  • During the protest, the wrestlers have also joined their respective jobs in the Railways last month. Both Bajrang Punia and Sakshi Malik are working as Special Officers in Railways.
