Nirmala Sitharaman: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman has targeted the controversial statement of former US President Barack Obama. Sitharaman has defended PM Modi in a press conference while replying to the issue of treatment with Muslims. During this, Sitharaman has accused the Congress of raising 'without data and useless issues'. He said that Congress and other opposition parties do the same after the electoral defeat.

Questioning former US President Barack Obama's statement about treatment of Muslims in India, the Union Minister said that during Barack's regime, 6 Muslim-majority countries were bombed. He has said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had clarified in the press conference held in America that his government believes in 'Sabka Saath-Sabka Vikas'. He said that he does not discriminate against any community.

Sitharaman said that people usually raise such issues which are not really issues at all. He said that PM Modi has so far received the highest honors from a total of 13 countries, out of which 6 have been given by Muslim majority countries. Sitharaman said that some issues are being raised at the state level regarding law and order. Many responsible people are working on this. He said that other people are making allegations without data, it shows that this is an organized campaign against BJP.

Sitharaman said that she feels that other parties cannot compete with BJP and PM Modi in the elections, that is why she is running such campaigns. He said that in the opposition parties mainly the Congress has been spreading such things since the last few elections.

In an interview given to CNN, Obama had said that he would raise the issue of Indian Muslims during the discussion with PM Modi, on which he has targeted Obama. She said that she was surprised that when PM Modi was speaking about India in America, a former US President was giving a statement on the condition of Muslims in India.
