New Delhi : Enforcement Directorate (ED) officials probing West Bengal's famous teacher recruitment scam have found cash worth Rs 28 crore besides 5 kg of gold from Arpita Mukherjee's Belghoria flat in North 24-Parganas. Counting of notes continued till 4 am on Thursday. The probe agency said the total cash recovered from the premises is now around Rs 50 crore. Officials said a huge amount of money was recovered from the toilet.ED officials raided Arpita Mukherjee's Belghoria flat till Wednesday morning i.e. for about 18 hours. Earlier on Wednesday, two flats in Belghoria were raided after questioning. About Rs 22 crore in cash and gold was found in one. Reports say that Arpita Mukherjee claimed that Partha Chatterjee used her house as a "mini bank".Images shared by news agency ANI showed ED officials loading the truck with around 10 trunks full of cash and jewelery recovered from the residence of Mukherjee, a close aide of Trinamool Congress leader and Bengal minister Partha Chatterjee. Mamata Banerjee's minister was recently arrested by the ED.An ED official said that this time cash has been found from a flat in Belgharia in North Kolkata, which is owned by Mukherjee. Arpita's two flats in Rathala area were opened by breaking the lock as she did not have a key. “We have found huge amount of cash in one of the two flats in the housing complex. He said that many important documents were also recovered during the search of the flats. ED has sealed the flat. The investigating agency has also searched the residence of Parth's associate and businessman Manoj Jain in Ballygunge.Action was going on since morningDuring interrogation, Mukherjee had informed the ED about his assets in and around Kolkata. The raids are being conducted on these properties since Wednesday morning, the official said. When asked about the questioning of the minister and Mukherjee, he said that Mukherjee is cooperating in the investigation, but the attitude of the minister is non-cooperative.Let us tell you that on the directions of the Calcutta High Court, the CBI is probing the alleged irregularities in the recruitment of Group 'C' and 'D' class employees and teachers in government-aided schools.
