Six Jaish-e-Mohammed terrorists were killed in two separate encounters in Anantnag and Kulgam, Kashmir Zone Police said. Four among the killed terrorists have been identified so far as two Pakistani and two local terrorists, it added. Three terrorists were killed in the Anantnag encounter and three in Kulgam. Identification of the other two terrorists is being ascertained, police added.

NEW DELHI: Six terrorists, including two Pakistan nationals, have been killed in two separate encounters with the security forces in Anantnag and Kulgam districts of Jammu and Kashmir, police said.

According to the Inspector General of Police, Kashmir, four among the killed terrorists have been identified so far. Of these, two are Pakistani and two are local terrorists. The identity of the other two terrorists is being ascertained.

The first encounter started at Nowgam Anantnag where, one policeman was injured in the shootout, the police said.

Soon after the Anantnag encounter, security forces launched another operation at Mirhama in Kulgam where three terrorists were killed in a brief encounter.

Security forces had launched a cordon and search operation acting on a tip-off about the presence of terrorists in the Mirhama area of Kulgam district. When the forces were conducting searches in the area, they were fired upon by the hiding terrorists, they added.

The forces retaliated, ensuing a gunfight in which the terrorists were killed, the official said.
