The incident happened when a train going to Gorakhpur arrived at the platform. The injured have been admitted to Bhabha Hospital. The accident was caused by the haste of the passengers.

Mumbai News: A stampede broke out at Mumbai's Bandra Terminus station on Saturday-Sunday night, in which nine passengers were injured. The condition of two of the injured remains critical. The incident took place at 2 am late night when the train going from Mumbai to Gorakhpur reached the platform.

Reason for stampede

After the train arrived on the platform, there was a rush among the passengers to board the train quickly, which led to a stampede. Many passengers were injured in this stampede. The injured were immediately admitted to Bhabha Hospital, where they are undergoing treatment.

Increasing crowd during festivals

It is common to have heavy crowds at railway stations during festivals in India. On the occasion of Diwali, people working in Mumbai return to their homes in large numbers, in which most of the passengers are from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar. Due to this, such a huge crowd was seen to board the train going to Gorakhpur that a stampede occurred.

The incident took place on platform number one of Bandra Terminus, where train number 22921, Bandra Terminus Gorakhpur Express, was scheduled to depart at 5:10 am. But the train arrived at the platform at 2:55 am, leading to a rush among passengers to board the train early.
