The Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing arrested actor Leena Maria Paul on Sunday for allegedly supporting her boyfriend Sukesh Chandrasekhar, an accused in 21 cases, in extorting ₹200 crores from a businessman’s spouse. The police have invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime (MCOCA) Act in opposition to the accused, a senior police officer stated, including that further investigation.

The Delhi Police’s Economic Offences Wing arrested actor Leena Maria Paul on Sunday for allegedly supporting her boyfriend Sukesh Chandrasekhar, an accused in 21 cases, in extorting ₹200 crores from a businessman’s spouse.


The police have invoked the stringent Maharashtra Control of Organised Crime (MCOCA) Act in opposition to the accused, a senior police officer stated, including that further investigation into the problem is beneath neath way. He stated Ms Paul allegedly helped Chandrasekhar in duping former Fortis Healthcare promoter Shivinder Mohan Singh’s spouse Aditi Singh.


An FIR was registered on August 7 after Ms Singh informed the police that a person posing as a senior reliable of the Law Ministry in June last year had provided to help secure bail for her husband, who was in prison at that time, in return for cash. Shivinder Singh was arrested in a money laundering case associated with the alleged misappropriation of funds at Religare Finvest Ltd (RFL) in 2019.


According to the police, Chandrasekhar, an accused in 21 cases, which includes the Election Commission bribery case, had made the decision to Ms Singh and he was arrested in August. At the time of the incident, Chandrasekhar was lodged in Delhi's Rohini prison and was running an extortion racket from behind the bars. The police later arrested his friends, who ran operations for him from outdoor the prison, and senior officers of the Rohini prison for assisting Chandrasekhar.


During the direction of research, the police had discovered that a supervisor of a financial institution in Connaught Place and his friends had been concerned with the doubtful transactions for circulation of funds and association of coins and the 3 had been eventually arrested, a senior reliable stated.
