Akhilesh Yadav News: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav was to appear before the CBI today, but he will not go. The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) had called former Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav for questioning on Thursday i.e. today in the illegal mining case, five years after registering the case. Now information has been received that Akhilesh Yadav is not going to CBI office in Delhi.

Officials said that in the notice issued under Section 160 of the Code of Criminal Procedure (CrPC), the agency asked him to appear in connection with the case registered in 2019. Under this section, the police officer is allowed to call witnesses in the investigation.

In fact, CBI had registered an FIR in the illegal mining case in 2019 and in the same case, has summoned SP chief Akhilesh Yadav as a witness under CrPC 160 to the Delhi CBI headquarters. This summons was issued on 21st February and people were asked to come on 29th February.

CBI started investigation on court orders

Let us tell you that after the mining issue without e-tendering, CBI had started investigating this matter after the order of Allahabad High Court. The investigation revealed that despite the NGT ban, between 2012 and 2016, public servants and officials had jointly issued permissions and licenses for illegal mining. The officials had also collected money from some leaders along with the lease holders and drivers. In 2016, CBI first registered 7 PEs and started investigation. Investigation revealed that Akhilesh Yadav cleared 13 projects in a single day.

14 License issue

The CBI had also interrogated the officials, who had told that Akhilesh Yadav was holding the mining portfolio and had issued 14 licenses. Of these, 13 licenses were issued on a single day on 17 February 2013. All this was done manually without e-tendering process.

Violation of e-tendering policy

On February 17, the then DM of Hamirpur granted 13 licenses on the direction of Akhilesh Yadav, which itself was a violation of Akhilesh Yadav's e-tendering policy of 2012, which was done by the Allahabad High Court on January 29, 2013. CBI had presented its report in Allahabad High Court. Akhilesh Yadav was the CM of UP from 2012 to 2017 and held the mining portfolio between 2012 and 13. Gayatri Prajapati helped him in this work.
