Akhilesh Yadav News: Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav launched a scathing attack on the Election Commission over alleged irregularities in the Milkipur assembly by-election. He alleged that the BJP government, with the help of the police and administration, influenced the democratic process and intimidated Samajwadi Party workers. Akhilesh Yadav even said that "The Election Commission is dead, we have to offer it a white cloth."

Allegations of rigging in Milkipur by-election

Akhilesh Yadav alleged widespread rigging in the Milkipur assembly by-election and said that the BJP took every possible unethical measure to ensure victory in the election. He claimed that the police-administration gave open protection to BJP goons, which affected the fair election. Allegations were also made of intimidating Samajwadi Party booth agents.

Atmosphere of fear to influence voting

Akhilesh Yadav alleged that the police-administration influenced the voting by creating an atmosphere of fear among the voters. He said that BJP supporters themselves admitted that they had cast fake votes. SP candidate Ajit Prasad also claimed to have caught some people doing fake voting. Yadav said that officials in the BJP government are involved in rigging and the Election Commission should take action on this.

Allegations of Samajwadi Party agents being thrown out of the booth

The Samajwadi Party also complained to the Election Commission through social media that SP agents were thrown out of many booths or were not allowed to become agents. Yadav alleged that there were also complaints of EVM malfunctions, which disrupted voting. He also said that Muslim women were humiliated on the pretext of removing their burqa.

Battle of prestige between SP-BJP

The Milkipur assembly by-election has become a battle of prestige between the Samajwadi Party and the BJP. This seat is part of the politically important Ayodhya district. The by-election was held on this seat after SP MP Awadhesh Prasad won the Lok Sabha elections. The BJP termed Akhilesh Yadav's allegations as baseless and said that this is the result of the disappointment after the defeat of the SP.

Demand for fair election process

Akhilesh Yadav demanded fair investigation and action from the Election Commission. He said that to protect democracy, the Election Commission will have to take strict steps and take strict action against those who indulge in rigging. He also warned that if such irregularities continue, the Samajwadi Party will not shy away from agitation.
