Women Reservation Bill: Today Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal has presented the Women Reservation Bill in the Lok Sabha. Earlier, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that the name of the women's reservation bill will be 'Nari Shakti Vandan Act'. He said that after the implementation of this Act, our democracy will become stronger. Our government is determined to make this Act a law. When the bill was presented in the Lok Sabha, the opposition created a huge uproar.

Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal said that the duration of the Women's Reservation Bill will be 15 years. However, Parliament will have the power to extend this period. Meghwal said that after the passing of this Act, the number of women seats in the Lok Sabha will increase to 181. At present the number of women MPs in the Lok Sabha is 82.

Congress deliberately did not introduce the bill in Lok Sabha – Arjun Ram

While presenting the bill, Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal also attacked Congress. He said that Congress had deliberately not introduced this bill in the Lok Sabha. There is a smell of conspiracy from Congress.

According to the draft of the bill, 33 percent seats in Parliament and all legislative assemblies including Delhi will be reserved for women. The big thing is that quota within quota will be implemented for SC-ST category. This means that within the 33 percent reservation, there will be a provision for reservation for the castes included in SC-ST.

Reservation will be implemented only after delimitation

It has been said in the draft of the bill that reservation will be implemented only after delimitation. According to the draft of the bill, a commission will be formed for delimitation. After delimitation, seats will increase by about 30 percent. Delimitation will be for both Parliament and Assembly.

Women's participation will further increase in Parliament and Assemblies- PM Modi

Regarding the bill in the new Parliament, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that 'Nari Shakti Vandan Act' will strengthen our democracy. Now the participation of women in Parliament and Assemblies will increase further. We are committed to making laws. Bills on women's reservation were introduced many times before, but it could not be passed.
