New Delhi. A local court on Sunday refused bail to eight accused in connection with the communal violence that took place during a procession taken out on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti in Delhi's Jahangirpuri area on April 16. Along with this, he has been reprimanded for being lax by the police in this matter. The court has said that the eight accused are well-known criminals of the area and if they are released, they can influence the witnesses. The judge has lashed out at the police in this case, saying that the police failed to stop the illegal rally. The court has asked the Delhi Police Chief to investigate the matter and fix the accountability of the guilty police officers.

Order to fix accountability on guilty police officers

According to the news of NDTV, an illegal procession was taken out in Delhi's Jahangirpuri on the day of Ram Navami last month, on which stones were pelted. Violent clashes broke out between the two sides in this incident in which 8 policemen and a civilian were injured. So far 20 people have been arrested in this case. Many kinds of politics had also started in this incident. All the major parties gave their reaction on this. However, it was found in the investigation that permission was not taken from the police for the procession which was taken out on the day of Ram Navami and when there was a scuffle between the two groups, the police were also present there, despite this the police maintained peace and order. I failed. This is the reason why the court has asked the guilty police officers to fix accountability.

Police himself had participated in the illegal procession

The court said that instead of stopping the illegal procession and driving away the crowd, the police was with them. The judge said that the FIR also mentions that other police officers led by Inspector Rajeev Ranjan had also participated in the illegal procession. The judge said that prima facie it appears that the local police has completely failed to stop the illegal procession. However, senior Delhi Police officer Deepender Pathak said that the police's job is to maintain peace and hence the police were present there.

Earlier, the police had told that if the situation becomes sensitive and there is a crowd, the police have to ensure that the situation does not worsen there. So we sent enough policemen there and we were able to control the situation there. Violent clashes broke out between two communities in at least four states of the country on the day of Ram Navami. Along with Delhi, there were complaints of riots in Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Jharkhand and West Bengal. After the Delhi riots, bulldozers were used for illegal construction in Jahangirpuri area, which was stopped by the order of the Supreme Court.
