CM Mamta Banerjee: After the rape and murder of a trainee doctor at RG Kar Hospital in Kolkata, the West Bengal government is constantly facing criticism. In such a situation, now the West Bengal government has taken an important decision for the welfare and safety of women. Actually, the West Bengal government is going to take steps to ensure the welfare of women at workplaces. The Bengal government is going to implement the flagship project "Ratri Sathi" project. Under this, separate rest rooms and toilets will be arranged for women. Also, women volunteers will be put on duty.

The Bengal government will launch a mobile app

Ratri Sathi will identify safe areas with CCTV coverage for women. Along with the alarm system, a special mobile phone app will also be launched which will be connected to the local police. Women at workplaces should call 100 and 112 for any problem. Also, security checks and breath analyzers will be kept in all government hospitals including district hospitals. Sexual harassment committee will be formed everywhere. Under this, the culture of working in pairs will be encouraged, so that they are aware of each other's actions and habits.

What will happen with the implementation of "Ratri Sathi"?

Under this scheme, people will also be encouraged to become a part of Ratri Sathi in private institutions. Under this, the police will patrol the hospitals at midnight. Adequate drinking water facility will be provided to women. It will be mandatory for all the employees of the hospital to wear identity cards, which should also mention the faculty. Apart from this, security guards will be deployed in all the hospitals and working hours for women will also be fixed. Under this scheme, it will be mandatory for women to work only for 12 hours. As far as possible, women will be exempted from night shift. The security guards who will be deployed will include both male and female security guards.
