West Bengal News: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has once again written a letter to Prime Minister Narendra Modi on women's safety. Mamata has recommended the central government to make stringent central laws for rape and other heinous crimes. She mentioned in her letter that there was no response from the Prime Minister on her earlier letter, rather the seriousness of the problems has been ignored in the reply received from the Ministry of Women and Child Development.

Mamata also cited the initiatives of the state government, including 10 special POCSO courts and 88 FTSCs, which are hearing cases speedily in the state. However, she stressed the need for the appointment of permanent judicial officers, which has also been acknowledged by the High Court.

The Chief Minister informed that helpline numbers 112 and 1098 are working well in the state and emergency services are also being used effectively. Mamata urged PM Modi to make stringent central laws for serious crimes like rape and murder and set timelines for speedy disposal of cases. He expressed hope that the Central Government will consider this matter more seriously.
