By News Helpline – Mumbai | It seems that year 2020 is a year of grieve and sadness for Bollywood. One after another Bollywood is losing its gem. Veteran choreographer Saroj Khan died of a cardiac arrest at the wee hours of Friday at Guru Nanak hospital, Bandra.Back on June 20, Saroj was admitted to the hospital with breathing complaints. She was initially feared to have contracted corona-virus but was cleared after testing negative for the deadly disease. She was 71. Many Bollywood celebrities paid tribute to her death.Amitabh Bachchan tweeted, “Prayers.... Haath Jude Hain, Mann Ashant”Akshay Kumar took to his twitter and wrote, “Woke up to the sad news that legendary choreographer #SarojKhan ji is no more. She made dance look easy almost like anybody can dance, a huge loss for the industry. May her soul rest in peace”Suniel Shetty remembering the choreographer tweeted, “You are loved ... You are irreplaceable ... A true GURU ... #RIPSarojKhan”Tamanna Bhatia tweet read, “Woke up to the heartbreaking news of the legendary choreographer #SarojKhan’s demise. Her iconic dance moves inspired me at a very young age. Rest in peace Saroj Ji You are truly irreplaceable.”Rakul Preet Singh deeply saddened about the news on her twitter wrote, “2020 please don’t give any more bad news . So sad to hear about #SarojKhan ma’am . Always dreamt of doing atleast one song Choreographed by her. Your grace and contribution to indian cinema shall always be remembered. May your soul RIP. Strength to the family”
Riteish Deshmukh wrote on Twitter: "Rest in Peace Saroj Khan ji. This loss is immeasurable for the industry and film lovers. Having choreographed more than 2000 songs she single handedly changed the landscape of how songs were shot. I had the pleasure of being Choreographed by her in Aladin. One tick off my bucketlist."Taapsee Pannu holds on to the memories of Saroj Ji. She writes, “At least I had a chance to dance in your company. I am going to hold on to those memories tight…. real tight. Red heart, we lose another star to the sky. Your songs will make every girl remember you forever n ever.”Saroj Khan, the three-time National Award winner had choreographed for some of the most memorable tracks, including 'Dola Re Dol' from Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Devdas', 'Ek Do Teen' from Madhuri Dixit-starrer 'Tezaab' and 'Ye Ishq Haaye' from 'Jab We Met' in 2007. She last choreographed for "Tabaah Hogaye", featuring Madhuri from filmmaker Karan Johar's production "Kalank" in 2019.The last rites of Saroj Khan will be performed at Malvani in Malad, Mumbai. She is survived by her husband Sohanlal, son Raju, and daughters Hina and Sukanya.Atleast I had a chance to dance in your company. I am going to hold on to those memories tight.... real tight.
