Bus Accident / Bus fell into 200 feet deep gorge in Raigarh, 12 killed in accident so far

Bus Accident: A painful accident happened on Saturday morning in Raigad district of Maharashtra. A private bus fell into a ditch behind Shingroba temple in Khopoli area on the Mumbai-Pune Old Highway. In this accident, 12 passengers aboard the bus were killed, while more than 25 passengers were injured. On receiving the information of the accident, the police started the rescue operation on the spot. Police is trying to get the injured out of the bus. At the same time, the local people are also helping the police in the rescue operation.

SP Somnath Gharge of Raigarh district told that there were 40 to 45 passengers in the bus, out of which 12 passengers have died, while more than 25 passengers are injured. Rescue operation is still going on. A crane has been called to remove the bus. People belonging to an organization of Goregaon area were traveling in the bus. All of them had gone to attend a program in Pune. While returning from Pune, his bus met with an accident.

According to SP Somnath Gharge, the bus fell into a ditch about 200 feet deep. The reason for the accident is not yet clear whether the accident happened due to the negligence of the driver or there could be some other reason, it will be investigated. The SP told that the injured are being rescued and admitted to the nearby government hospital. Those whose condition is critical are being sent to the district hospital.

So far 25 to 30 people have been rescued

On the other hand, according to the people engaged in relief and rescue work, so far only 20 to 25 people have been rescued. Rescue is being done by tying a rope to the crane. Due to the bus falling into the deep ditch, there is a problem in the rescue. A team of local trackers along with a team of police and fire brigade is engaged in the rescue.

Local people told that when the bus fell into the ditch, there was a loud sound. Hearing the sound, it seemed that some accident had happened. When seen reaching the spot, the bus was not visible as it had fallen into a 200 feet deep gorge. We informed this to the local police station. When the team of the police station reached the spot, they got down and were seen. People were shouting in the bus. In a hurry, some people were pulled out by breaking the glass panes of the bus and admitted to the hospital.

All the passengers were residents of Goregaon

People told that there is a lot of problem in this rescue operation. People are being pulled out with the help of ropes. Some people are such that they are not even able to walk. They are being picked up and brought. People told that information is being received that the passengers in the bus were associated with a music group of Goregaon, who lived in Sion Virar area of Goregaon.
