Shimla: In a miraculous escape, as many as 22 people were rescued safely after a private bus skidded off the National Highway 707 in Himachal Pradesh's Sirmaur district on Friday.The dramatic picture of the incident shows the bus hanging from the cliff. A total of 22 people were travelling at the time of the accident. The incident took place near the Bohrad Khad area in Shillai of Sirmaur district.According to the authorities, all the passengers were safely rescued after the driver controlled the bus until the last passenger was rescued. The driver of the bus was later rescued by passengers.A technical snag reportedly damaged a tyre and caused the bus to slide. However, the driver showed the presence of mind by quickly applying brakes and managed to bring the bus to a stop before it went down.The driver then quickly evacuated the bus, as per an eyewitness.Last week, a massive landslide hit the Sirmaur district. The dramatic visuals of a road collapsing as a hillside crashed down had gone viral on social media. The massive landslide caught on camera took place at the Kali Khan area in the remote Shilai subdivision of the Sirmaur district.In the video, a chunk of a hill could be seen sliding down, collapsing on the road. About 100 metres of the road slid down and vanished in the blink of an eye. The road reportedly connected two points called Paonta Sahib and Shillai-Hatkori. However, no casualties were reported due to the landslide.
