West Bengal / CBI detains six persons in Howrah Post Poll Violence

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), as a part of its probe into instances of post-poll violence in West Bengal, detained six persons on Monday for his or her alleged involvement in numerous criminal offences, agency sources said. According to the sources, a group of CBI officers visited Howrah district withinside the morning and detained all six of them from the Domjur area.

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), as a part of its probe into instances of post-poll violence in West Bengal, detained six persons on Monday for his or her alleged involvement in numerous criminal offences, agency sources said.


According to the sources, a group of CBI officers visited Howrah district withinside the morning and detained all six of them from the Domjur area. The Central organization has up to now filed 34 FIRs and made 3 arrests in reference to the post-poll violence cases – in Nadia and one in North 24 Parganas.


The Calcutta High Court had, on August 19, ordered that probe into instances of alleged rape and homicide withinside the aftermath of the Assembly elections be held through the CBI, listening to an NHRC report withinside the matter.


The West Bengal authorities have moved the Supreme Court challenging the High Court order that directed a court-monitored CBI research into the instances.
