Raju Pal Murder Case: The police have registered an FIR in connection with the murder of Umesh Pal and the gunner, the main witnesses of the BSP MLA Raju Pal murder case, on Friday. Umesh Pal's wife Jaya Pal has filed a case against Atiq Ahmed as well as Atiq's brother, wife Shaista Parveen, Atiq Ahmed's two sons and others. Prayagraj police has detained about seven suspects along with both the sons of Atiq Ahmed.

BSP MLA Raju Pal was murdered in 2005

Raju Pal, former BSP MLA from Allahabad West, was shot dead on January 25, 2005 in Sulemasarai. His wife Pooja Pal is SP's MLA from Chail seat of Kaushambi. In the Raju Pal murder case, a report was lodged against former MP Atiq Ahmed and his younger brother former MLA Khalid Azim alias Ashraf, along with others. Umesh Pal was the main witness of the incident. He was the son of Raju Pal's wife Pooja Pal's real aunt.

Raju Pal's wife MLA Pooja Pal had also expressed apprehension several times that Umesh Pal might be killed to influence the testimony. Umesh Pal had also told about the threat to his life.

Atiq's wife interrogated, police probing CCTV-call details

In this murder case, the police have also interrogated Atiq's wife Shaista. In this case, the police have said that the attackers were continuously following Umesh Pal's car. The attackers came with a bomb in the bag. The attackers used a car and a bike to chase Umesh Pal. The police have scanned the CCTV footage of the entire route from Umesh Pal's court to his house.

The police have also extracted the call details of Atiq's two minor sons and his friend. Efforts are also being made to identify CCTV footage and local miscreants by showing their photographs. After the murder of Umesh Pal till late night, Police Commissioner Ramit Sharma and DM Sanjay Khatri stayed at the Dhoomanganj police station.

Police picked up BJP leader, interrogated the driver

Apart from this, STF has picked up District President of BJP Minority Cell Rahil Hasan from Rasulabad residence at 10.15 am in Umesh Pal murder case. The interrogation is being done in a confidential manner. Police is also considering the role of Umesh's driver Pradeep Sharma as suspicious. The police is busy questioning Pradeep since late night. Along with this, call details are also being extracted. After the incident, Pradeep fled leaving the car.

Suspicion of attacking the shooters of Purvanchal

After examining the CCTV footage, it has come to light that a miscreant is seen taking out a bomb from a bag and hitting it. Shooters from Purvanchal are suspected to be involved in the attack. This is the reason why teams from Prayagraj, Lucknow, Gorakhpur and Varanasi have been deployed in the Special Task Force to nab the attackers. Police force has been deployed after the attack on Umesh Pal's house as well. Umesh Pal's last rites will be performed on Saturday afternoon.

Umesh Pal, who practiced in the Allahabad High Court, had also been a district panchayat member from Nawabganj in Prayagraj. At this time he was associated with the BJP. Along with the profession of advocacy, he also used to do land business. Several attempts were made to dissuade him from testifying in the Raju Pal murder case. Former Bahubali MP Atiq Ahmed and his younger brother and former MLA Khalid Azim alias Mohd Ashraf were also accused of kidnapping attack. After the murder of Umesh Pal, there is resentment among his family and acquaintances.

Pooja Pal also expressed threat to her brother's life

Pooja Pal also gave in writing to the court and the police that Umesh Pal is my cousin, also a key witness in the murder case of my husband. His life is in danger. Enmity with Atiq Ahmed is 17 years old

Umesh had already lodged five FIRs against the Atik gang. On 25 January 2005, City West MLA Raju Pal was gunned down in Sulem Sarai area. At that time Raju Pal's friend and relative Umesh Pal had become the witness of the whole case.

Even after this, Atiq's henchmen kept following Umesh. On July 11, 2016, Umesh went to the court to testify. He was fatally attacked in the court premises itself. Umesh had lodged a report against all the people of the gang including Atiq, Ashraf.

Both the cases were going on in the court. Meanwhile, Umesh had lodged a third FIR against the Atiq gang. Apart from this, threats to kill in 2022 and FIR was written in another case.

There was also an attempt to implicate in the murder case

The Atik gang not only attacked and threatened Umesh, but also got him named in the case of Jitendra Patel's murder in Dhumanganj in 2016. However, Umesh was acquitted in the investigation.

Raju Pal defeated Atiq's brother in the election

The City West seat fell vacant after Atiq Ahmed became the MP. When the by-election took place, Atik's brother Ashraf was defeated by BSP's Raju Pal. After this defeat, Raju Pal who used to be Atiq Ahmed's special, had become the biggest enemy in one stroke. Raju married Pooja on 15 January 2005, three months after becoming an MLA.

After the murder of Raju Pal, his wife Pooja became MLA from the same seat in 2007 and 2012. However, she lost in 2017. In the 2022 elections, she is the SP candidate from Chail seat of Kaushambi.

Before Raju could understand anything, a bullet pierced the front glass and entered his chest. Five bombers came crashing down from the Scorpio. Three surrounded Raju Pal's car and started firing and the remaining two fired at the Scorpio running behind.

Doctors removed 19 bullets from the body

When the attackers realized that Raju had stopped breathing, they fled. Dhumanganj police came. SRN ran away with Raju in a taxi. Doctors declared Raju dead. After this Raju's postmortem was done, 19 bullets came out of his body. Sandeep Yadav and Devi Lal, who were sitting together, also died.

The police registered a case under serious sections against the then SP MP Atiq Ahmed, his brother Ashraf, Farhan, Ranjit Pal, Abid, Gufran. Till date the verdict could not be pronounced.
