Cow Slaughtering: Lok Sabha MP and All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal has urged the Muslim community of Assam not to sacrifice cows during the upcoming Eid on July 10. They say that Islam does not say to hurt any animal, when Hindus worship a cow as a mother, then why kill it?

What else Badruddin Ajmal said

Badruddin Ajmal said that it has been said in Islam that if a Muslim hurts even a single chit, he will not get heaven. Badruddin is also the president of Assam Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind. He said, “India is home to individuals from many different communities, ethnic groups and religions. Sanatan Dharma reveres the cow as a sacred symbol, a majority of Indians revere it. Hindus regard the cow as a mother. "

Ajmal said that that is why I appeal to Muslims not to kill cows during Eid. We strongly oppose this practice. He urged the Muslim community to offer sacrifices using other animals to fulfill the religious obligation and to avoid hurting the sentiments of others.

Ajmal's party AIUDF has been an opponent of BJP. The party cited an appeal from Darul Ulum Deoband in 2008, calling on Muslims to avoid animal sacrifice.

With 13 MLAs, Ajmal's party is a major opposition party in Assam. It is seen as a party representing Muslims. The BJP has been continuously attacking Ajmal, alleging that he supports Bangladeshis, but Ajmal's appeal for cow sacrifice has come as a surprise to both the BJP and the state's Muslim organizations. Ajmal is also a three-time Lok Sabha member from Dhubri, a Muslim-majority constituency in Assam.
